Enjoy Flagstaff's beautiful mountain scenery without the harsh glare of high-elevation sunshine. Hunter Douglas Designer Solar and Roller Shades provide a clean, contemporary look while helping manage sunlight, UV exposure, and privacy. Solar shades are especially popular for large windows overlooking the San Francisco Peaks, forested landscapes, and outdoor living areas. With a variety of fabrics, colors, and opacity levels, they're an excellent choice for modern mountain homes, living rooms, and home offices.
Simplify everyday living with Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation. Motorized shades allow you to adjust natural light and privacy using a remote, smartphone, or automated schedule. They're especially useful for tall windows, vaulted ceilings, and hard-to-reach glass commonly found in Flagstaff mountain homes. Schedule shades to close during bright afternoon sunshine or open in the morning to welcome natural light. With battery-powered and other available power options, motorization can be incorporated into both new construction and existing homes.
Make the most of Flagstaff's beautiful outdoor season with MagnaTrack motorized exterior screens. Designed for covered patios, porches, and outdoor entertaining spaces, these innovative screens help reduce sun exposure, wind, dust, and insects while maintaining visibility to the outdoors. MagnaTrack's patented magnetic track system provides a secure, dependable solution for suitable outdoor openings. Whether you're enjoying a summer afternoon or entertaining on a cool mountain evening, exterior screens can make your outdoor living space more comfortable.
Create a more comfortable outdoor retreat with a custom retractable patio awning. Flagstaff's sunny days make decks and patios wonderful places to relax, but direct sunlight can quickly make an outdoor space uncomfortable. Retractable awnings provide flexible overhead shade when you need it while allowing you to enjoy open skies when you don't. Choose from attractive fabric colors and convenient operating options to complement your home's exterior. Our team will help determine the right awning for your space and local weather conditions.
Flagstaff's cold winters, warm summer sunshine, and significant temperature swings make insulating window treatments a smart investment. Hunter Douglas Duette® and Applause® Honeycomb Shades feature cellular construction that helps reduce heat transfer through windows, improving year-round comfort. Available in light-filtering and room-darkening options, these shades are ideal for bedrooms, living areas, and large mountain-home windows. They're a beautiful way to improve energy efficiency without compromising your home's style.
Classic, durable, and beautifully crafted, Hunter Douglas plantation shutters bring timeless style to Flagstaff homes. Whether your home features rustic mountain architecture, traditional Southwestern design, or a clean contemporary interior, custom shutters provide an elegant finishing touch. Choose from genuine hardwood, composite, and Polysatin™ materials in a variety of finishes. Adjustable louvers allow you to manage natural light and privacy throughout the day while adding architectural character to your windows.
Bring warmth, softness, and personal style to your Flagstaff home with custom drapery and fabric Roman shades. Beautiful textiles are a natural complement to mountain interiors, adding texture and comfort to spaces with wood beams, stone fireplaces, and expansive windows. We offer a wide selection of fabrics, decorative hardware, and lining options from trusted suppliers including Carole Fabrics. Whether you're furnishing a cozy cabin, updating a traditional home, or designing a contemporary mountain retreat, we'll help create a custom look that feels right at home.
Bring the natural beauty of the outdoors inside with Hunter Douglas Provenance® Woven Wood Shades. Made from organic materials such as bamboo, grasses, and reeds, these shades add warmth, texture, and character to mountain-inspired interiors. Their natural colors and woven patterns pair beautifully with Flagstaff's ponderosa pine surroundings, wood finishes, and relaxed mountain lifestyle. Why Choose Mountain Blind Man?
FAQs
What are the best window treatments for homes in Flagstaff, Arizona?
Flagstaff's four-season mountain climate makes insulation, sunlight control, and privacy especially important. Hunter Douglas honeycomb cellular shades are a popular choice for improving year-round comfort, while solar shades help reduce glare and UV exposure without completely blocking mountain views. Plantation shutters, roller shades, woven wood shades, and custom drapery are also excellent options. The best choice depends on your home's architecture, window orientation, and personal preferences.
What window shades are best for keeping a Flagstaff home warm during winter?
Hunter Douglas Duette® Honeycomb Shades are among our favorite options for Flagstaff's cold winter months. Their insulating cellular design traps air within the shade, helping reduce heat loss through windows. Certain configurations provide additional insulation, making them particularly useful for bedrooms, large windows, and homes with significant nighttime temperature drops. We'll help you compare fabrics and operating options to find the right combination of insulation, light control, and appearance.
Can I block the intense Arizona sun without losing my mountain views?
Absolutely. Hunter Douglas Designer Solar Shades are designed to filter sunlight, reduce glare, and help protect interiors from UV exposure while maintaining varying levels of visibility outdoors. They're particularly well suited for Flagstaff homes with large windows overlooking forests, mountains, or open landscapes. Different fabric colors and openness percentages affect the view, light control, and privacy. We'll bring samples to your home so you can see the difference in your actual lighting conditions.
Do you offer free in-home consultations in Flagstaff?
Yes! Mountain Blind Man offers free in-home window treatment consultations throughout Flagstaff and surrounding communities. We bring the showroom directly to your home, allowing you to compare fabrics, colors, styles, and operating systems in your own space. We'll discuss your goals, take measurements, recommend products, and prepare a detailed quote. There's no charge for the consultation.
Do you sell and install Hunter Douglas blinds and shades in Flagstaff?
Yes. Mountain Blind Man is an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer serving Flagstaff and Northern Arizona. We offer Hunter Douglas roller shades, solar shades, Duette® Honeycomb Shades, plantation shutters, woven wood shades, Roman shades, and PowerView® motorized window treatments. Our team handles product selection, professional measuring, custom ordering, installation, and ongoing product support.
Are motorized window shades a good option for Flagstaff mountain homes?
Motorized shades are an excellent option for Flagstaff homes, particularly those with vaulted ceilings, large picture windows, and hard-to-reach glass. Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation allows you to operate compatible shades with a remote, smartphone, or automated schedule. Motorization can also help you manage sunlight throughout the day without manually adjusting individual shades. Many systems offer battery-powered options, making them practical for both existing homes and new construction.
What window treatments work best for large windows and vaulted ceilings?
Large windows are common in Flagstaff's mountain homes, and the right window treatments should complement the architecture without overwhelming the view. Solar shades and roller shades offer a clean, minimal appearance, while honeycomb shades provide additional insulation. Motorized operating systems are particularly helpful for windows that are difficult to reach. We'll evaluate your window sizes, mounting space, and desired light control to recommend products that fit properly and operate reliably.
Can you help with window treatments for a new home in Flagstaff?
Absolutely. We work with homeowners selecting window treatments for newly constructed and remodeled homes throughout Flagstaff. Whether you're building a modern mountain retreat or updating an established home, we can help coordinate window coverings throughout the property. Our team will assist with fabric selection, privacy needs, motorization, insulation, and budgeting. We take final measurements once the windows and surrounding trim are installed to ensure a precise custom fit.
Do you offer retractable patio awnings and exterior screens in Flagstaff?
Yes. Mountain Blind Man offers custom retractable patio awnings and MagnaTrack motorized exterior screens for suitable outdoor spaces. These products can help reduce sun exposure, glare, wind, and insects, making decks and covered patios more enjoyable during Flagstaff's outdoor season. Because Flagstaff experiences snow, wind, and changing mountain weather, we'll evaluate your installation area and recommend appropriate products and operating practices for local conditions.
